秋季新学期开始了

11月11日晚6:10,教育科学学院(以下简称“教科院”)国际班学英语讲座于实验楼s5209教室开展。教科院分党委书记乐三明进行“与国际班谈谈学英语”主题讲座,湖北第二师范学院国际处付琦、教科院2021级学前教育2班班导师程丽以及2021级学前教育2班全体成员参与。



01国际班学生4-6年本硕发展规划

讲座伊始,乐三明首先向学生们介绍国际班学生4-6年本硕发展规划,让学生们对大学四年学习有一个明确的规划方向。

02为什么学外语

乐三明书记在讲座中谈到,学习英语最终目的便是提升实现个人梦与中国梦的竞争力。随后,他对国际班的同学们在本科期间、出国留学期间和做合格的国际化公民三方面提出期望:

03英语/交流为王:输入多→输出大

接着,乐三明书记向同学们传授英语学习方法,并从“如何说正确英语、如何流利说英语、如何地道说英语”三个方面向学生们阐述怎样学好英语。

在讲述中,他将英语学习按照“三个层次、三类差异、三大积累、三大秘籍、三大拓展”进行讲解,从生活中常见的英语语音错误现象出发,用通俗易懂的方式向学生们传授英语学习技巧及方法。

三个层次:信、达、雅

三类差异:文化、思维、句式

三大积累:词汇量、阅读量、输出量

三大秘籍:每天听、大胆说、外语想

三大扩展:专业造诣、中外文化、关注社会

 

随后,乐三明书记向同学们推荐了三款免费的特色英语视听APP,并逐一向同学们介绍它的优点和使用方法。他希望同学们能利用好碎片时间,充分将网络转化为学习的工具,提升英语水平和素养。

“VOA合集”APP优点:每个月慢速英语和标准英语听力节目的中英文及语音材料齐全。

“6分钟英语” APP优点:BBC官方开设的,有若干视听学习专题节目和新闻栏目,自我录音功能特好。

“网易公开课” APP优点:海量的国内外名校课程视频和TED英文演讲,是拓展专业课程、提升英语视听学习的最好资源库,中英文字幕可选。

紧接着,乐三明书记向同学们从如何说正确英语、如何说流利英语、 如何说地道英语、如何备考雅思四个方面与同学们分享自己对学习英语的心得和经验。在讲述过程中也穿插视频,让同学们能够更好理解。

 


04如何说正确英语

中式英语为什么难听?

问题1:发音/不准

问题2:连读、略读、语调/不自然

问题3:中式直译/不合句法

结果是:不熟悉中英文发音差异,导致很多人英文听力差。

05如何说流利英语

在讲述这一部分时,乐三明书记首先为同学们介绍了口语水平的三种层次,即为:CORRECT–FLUENT– EXPRESSIVE

初级:语音语法正确、信息无误(信)

中级:表达准确、流畅、多变(达)

高级:交流娴熟、幽默、雅致(雅)

 

举例.:What major are you studying?

A1: I am studying early childhood teacher education program. I’ve been studying it for more than one year and I become increasingly interested in it. (添加时限)

A2: I am studying this program, which I think is very interesting and fun. (个人观点)

A3: I am studying early childhood because I find it more interesting than many other subjects. (原因和比较)

A4: I am studying this program, along with that, I am also majoring in business administration. (相关附加信息)

A5: I am studying early childhood. I like it so much coz it explains so much to us, such as how a small kid can grow up desirably in mental and physical stage.(实例)

1. 外籍教师交流

(外教课堂内外交流的机会最大化)

Find An English-Speaking Conversation Partner

First of all, it’s important to find native speakers to practice with. Students who are living around many English speakers may be able to find informal opportunities to chat with neighbors and local business people. Joining a club or a volunteer organization can be a great way to get to know people informally. Another option is enrolling yourself to online classes that offer English-related courses like IELTS preparation course. If that isn’t an option, consider hiring a private tutor. A lot of students find and meet with tutors online via tools like Skype or Google Hangouts.

2. 确保听说同步

(课前话题充分准备,以便对答有内容价值)

Make Sure To Listen As Well As Speak

When practicing with a native speaker, try to balance your listening and speaking. It’s a good idea to prepare questions in advance so that the conversation will flow back and forth. If your conversation partner asks you a question and you answer at length, you can always turn the question back to your partner by asking, “What do  you think?” or “What about you?”

Surround Yourself With The English Language

Another way to improve your English speaking skills is to immerse yourself in English as much as possible. Watch movies or TV in English, with subtitles if you need them, and watch the same programs over and over. Most people find that they understand more each time. Listening helps you become familiar with the rhythms and intonations of English. Once the sounds are familiar, try imitating them.

4. 自言自语

(用英语思考和表达出来,录音改进)

Talk To Yourself

Saying your thoughts out loud or narrating your actions (“I am drinking coffee, and now I’m going to open my book”) can be a very effective way to practice spoken English. By talking to yourself, you can become more fluent in translating your thoughts into spoken words. Practicing alone is also a low-pressure way to practice, since no one will hear your mistakes.



06如何说地道英语

跨文化交际: 文化理解与思维转换的能力

·Language is the road map of a culture. It tells you where its people come from and where they are going. (Rita Mae Brown) 语言即有关文化的一份路线图,告诉你人们从哪里来,将要去何方。 

·If you talk to a man in a language he understands, that goes to his head. If you talk to him in his own language, that goes to his heart. (Nelson Mandela) 若是用他自己的语言和他交流,他将铭记于心

1. 中西文化差异对语言表达的影响:

(1)宗教信仰和历史典故的差异。英美以基督教为主,习语与基督教和希腊罗马神话相关。

谋事在人,成事在天 Man proposes, God disposes.

一贫如洗 as poor as a church mouse

(2)生产与自然环境、社会习俗的差异。英国岛国航海捕鱼为生(中国以农业为主),生活以面包为食、小狗为伴。

挥金如土 spend money like water  

左右逢源 butter both sides of one's bread (生计/饭碗)

爱屋及乌 love me love my dog

2. 中西思维差异对语言表达的影响:

(1)中国归纳式: 中国人强调集体主义价值,注重整体、综合。中国人习惯概括性归纳式思维,习惯从整体、直观上看问题。

(2)西方演绎式: 西方人崇尚个人主义,习惯逻辑分析,强调个人中心。西方人思维模式一般具体型思维,总是先概括后分解,先表态后叙述,先总结后事例,先整体后细节,由果到因,由小到大等(段落总分结构)。

3. 英汉句式差异主要体现:

 

形合: 英语句子主干结构即主谓机制突出,其它修饰、限制、平行、补充等成分好似主干上的旁枝,借助各种关联词进行空间搭架表达语法意义和逻辑关系。逻辑性强,结构完整(多意长句)。【 “法治”/结构

意合汉语语法意义和逻辑关系通过字词含义来直接表达。无词形变化,无非谓语动词,常省略连接词,以神摄形。【“人治”/语意

举例I expect we'll also have a candid conversation on areas where we continue to differincluding the creation of a more level playing field for our businesses to compete, innovation policies, excess capacity and human rights.


(1)句子结构多样化  【节奏感】

• 句式的变化可以使内容变得生动和充满活力,也有助于强调重点。

• 文章写作的最好方法是混合使用简单句、并列句、复合句。

• 长短句的混合使用可使文章富于节奏。

举例:I’m honored to be here today, I stand before you not as an expert but as a concerned citizen, one of the 400,000 people who marched in the streets of New York on Sunday, and the billions of others around the world who want to solve our climate crisis.

(2)长短句结合 【逻辑关系】

初学者应该多使用简单一点的句子。但如果一篇文章全部是由短句子堆砌而成(不能显示句子间的逻辑关系),整个文章就显得很稚嫩。

举例:I returned to my room. There was a note under my door. It was from Bill. He said he was in the town looking for a job. He hadn’t found anything yet. He was sorry to have missed me.

修改:When I returned to my room, I found a note from Bill under my door. He said he was in the town looking for a job, but hadn’t found anything yet. He added that he was sorry to have missed.

(3)英语多前重心 【汉语多后重心】

汉语思维以逻辑为序,往往(由远及近)先因后果,先假设后推论,先叙事后表态、总结。英语思维倾向(由近及远)先“总提”后叙事,直接先表达意见和态度,句子重要信息置前。

复合句中:英语主句重要信息置前,从句信息置后。

例:酒逢知己千杯少

A thousand cups of wine do not suffice when true friends meet.

句中叙事又表态时:英语先表明态度观点后述事。

例:有朋自远方来,不亦乐乎

Is it a great pleasure to meet friends from afar? 

 


07如何备考雅思

讲座最后,乐三明书记非常细致地针对“如何备考雅思”为同学们进行讲述。

首先,乐书记为同学们推荐了雅思备考的必备词汇书:新东方《雅思词汇词根+联想记忆法》或《四级词汇词根+联想记忆法》,俞敏洪编著。随后,他为同学们介绍了雅思的考试科目、评分标准、口语题型、备考方法等方面 ,他强调:学术类考试评估考生的英语水平是否满足学术环境及高等教育的要求。考试适合所有考生,与其学习专业无关。

雅思考试科目:


雅思考试评分标准包括:

· Fluency and coherence 语言的流畅连贯

· Lexical resource 词汇变换

· Grammatical range and accuracy 句式丰富性和语法准确性

· Pronunciation 发音正确

雅思考试考官按这四项评分标准分别评等级分,并且这四项是同等重要的。

 

雅思口语 – 题型设置:

Part 1:  4-5分钟,Personal topics 简介以及问答

互动内容:考官会向考生进行自我简介,并核对考生的身份。之后,考官会就考生熟悉的话题(如朋友、兴趣习惯或者食物) 进行询问。为保证题目的一致性,这些问题都是从一个事先拟定的范围内抽取的。

考察能力: 考生就日常性的观点和信息、常见的生活经历或情形以回答问题的形式进行交流的能力。

Part 2:3-4分钟,Unassisted short talk on a given topic 个人陈述

互动内容:考官会交给考生一个答题任务卡、铅笔和草稿纸做笔记。答题任务卡上会给出一个话题和需要在个人陈述中包含的要点,并在最后提示考生解释这个话题的某一个方面。考生有一分钟的准备时间(如笔记),然后需就此话题进行1到2分钟的陈述。考官会在2分钟后打断考生,并在最后提问一两个问题作为结束语。

考察能力:考生(在没有任何其它提示的情况下)就一个特定的话题进行较长时间的陈述的能力,考察考生是否能恰当地运用语言、是否能连贯地组织自己的观点。考生有可能需要联系自己的经历来完成这部分内容。

Part 3:4-5分钟,two-way discussion on more abstract issues 双向讨论

互动内容:考官将与考生就第二部分中出现的话题较为抽象的部分进行双向讨论。

考察能力:考生表达和论述看法、分析、讨论以及深入思考问题的能力。

 

雅思口语 – 备考方法:

1. 熟悉口语真题 

2. 准备话题卡

3. 练习,反馈再练习 

 

 

雅思写作

小作文Task 1:

请用20分钟时间完成作文一,采用正式文体写作,字数不少于150个单词。

涉及图形理解:

bar chart柱状图,table表格,line graph 线图 ,pie chart饼图 ,map地图, flow chart流程图

 

大作文Task2:

请用40分钟时间完成作文二,采用正式文体写作,字数不少于250个单词。

题型设置:

1. To what extent do you agree or disagree with this statement?

2. Discuss both views and give your opinion.

3. Is it a negative or positive trend?

4. What are the reasons and what problems might it cause?

涉及话题:

教育、科技、媒体、政府、 社会、 女性 、环境 、动物 、建筑 、犯罪

 

写作备考方法:

1. 熟悉写作真题 

2. 研习例文

3. 写作与批改

 

因此我们平常要注重三大方面的知识扩展:

1. 加强自己专业的学习

2. 加强中外文化的深度了解

3. 关注社会和国内外热点问题

08讲座最后

在讲座最后,乐三明书记带领同学们一起观看了驻美央视王牌记者王冠谈如何学英语。(A Burning Desire to Learn English)


最后,乐三明书记送给国际班的同学们一句话:“Chance favors only the prepared mind.”他勉励同学们:“机会只青睐有准备的人,奋斗的青春最美丽!”

本次讲座激发了国际班学生对英语学习的兴趣,促进了学生综合文化素质的提升,丰富了学生课外生活,为学生专业发展起到了积极推动作用。
